Diana K Holmes

Evocative Women's Fiction

Where the past meets the present...

Hello and welcome to my website!

Hello and welcome to my website!

My name is Diana K Holmes and I write dual-timeline women's fiction — stories woven with secrets and mystery, where past and present are drawn together by surprising emotional connections. After many years writing romance, I was drawn to women's fiction — the genre I've always loved to read and, it turns out, always wanted to write.

My first dual-timeline novel, The Modern Girl, sweeps between New Zealand and Hollywood in the 1930s and present-day New Zealand — with all the elements readers of this genre love: secrets slowly unravelled, an atmospheric historic house, and two compelling love stories. It's available on all major online stores in ebook and paperback (check them out here), and also direct from me — see the Books tab above.

I'm based in New Zealand, and the landscapes, history, and spirit of this country find their way into my writing in ways I never planned but always love.

Secrets of the Greek House

I'm currently writing Secrets of the Greek House. It's a dual-timeline book set on the Greek island of Syros during World War II and the present day.

I'll be living there over the summer of 2026 and will hopefully finish writing it towards the end of the year. If you'd like to check out my pics and progress, just tap the 'Follow' button above to receive notification of blog updates.

Why I Complicate My Stories (and Love Doing It)
I sometimes get cross with myself for complicating my stories. It would be so much easier to write about what’s going on around me, rather than setting them across multiple timelines and countries. No research, no complex interweaving of ideas and p...
